Blount Clam Shack

“Some people at first balk at the price — $18.95,” says manager Mike Cote. “But then they try it.” Clams may be what made Blount famous, but at their new waterside clam shack in Warren they're billing themselves as “the home of the giant lobster roll.” The secret to the signature sandwich lies in its simplicity (and lack of celery): lettuce, chunks of lobster (to the tune of five ounces) and a squiggle of dill mayo are perched in a jumbo hog dog bun.

Blount’s shack, which opened in May, really is a trailer, tricked out with frialators, cook-tops and a grab-and-go window. Place your order — they’re already running through 100 dozen clam cakes ($5.50/dozen) on Fridays, so al-so try those — and then retreat to one of the handful of tented picnic tables. The set up is true-to-clam-shack-form rustic, with crushed shells underfoot, coin-op soda machines, portojohns and a priceless water view.

335 Water Street, Warren, 245-3210, blountseafood.com. Open for lunch and dinner Wed.–Sun. Visa and MasterCard accepted. Parking lot. Boat slips available for dock and dine.
